lyrics

Things get off to an eletronically meandering start in this episode from November 2 2023. Sometimes when I try to make something work in a piece I can’t always quite get there, but I’ve learned that it’s best to take whatever frustrations might arise from working on one thing and apply the lessons learned to the next piece, as opposed to trying to fix something that may have been ill formed from the start. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but an important one in terms of the ephemeral nature of art, especially music. Capturing something worth keeping is of course always the goal, but agonizing over it, and especially being bogged down trying to fix something that is so transient can be very counter productive. As such I’m much happier with the second piece than the first. The third piece is a departure, with a much faster tempo, driven by a textured effect that shape shifts through several different forms. The fourth piece enters into a darker and more mysterious realm, descending into some more ethereal space. The final piece is a bit of the kitchen sink, where I tried out a little bit of a number of new effects I don’t often use, just to see what might work, some with more success than others.
