This episode comes from the Twitch stream on August 17 2023. Things really don’t get going until the third piece in this episode, which starts at about 21 minutes in. I started things off by trying to revive an old unfinished piece, which has some nice transitions but I don’t feel I was able completely lock it in. The same was the case for the second piece which I struggled to lock into the key of. The third piece however takes off into a nice groove, built around a more experimental percussive sound, as seems to be the case lately. Throughout the piece I continue to find new layers that lock together, which is the most satisfying feeling as I make these podcasts. I love building the sonic space successfully in a way that feels organic and ordered but with enough unexpected elements and emotional aspects to keep it interesting. The next piece starts out slowly with a strumming rhythm, but then I find something interesting with an unexpected turnaround chord that holds some nice suspense to it. The fifth piece springs into being quite quickly, and I think I’m drawing on shapes I’ve used before as it all flows together fairly seamlessly right away, possibly from Frisson.
