Episode 26 Fixed Up

This episode comes from the Youtube stream on July 12, 2023. I had some technical difficulties early in this stream, and through an unfortunate series of clicks managed to stop recording the audio while trying to fix things. I was able to download the video and extract the audio, but the quality is a bit diminished compared to other episodes.

After the initial kerfuffle things get off to a pretty nice start, with a flowing piece that has some nice billowing airiness to the arco parts. The next piece is a bit darker sounding, with a more contemplative feel, and more exploration in the lower end of the sound. Then things open up a bit more to a bit more of a hopeful contemplative sound, with some more experimentation in some background harmonics. The fourth piece is built out of more of a bass line groove than a plucked chord progression, and as a result has a more driving feel to it. Having a vamping baseline provides for more experimentation with shorter riffs, as opposed to longer lyrical melodies. Following in the same vamping vein, the next piece has a built more of a stomping and halting rhythm. The next piece is reminiscent of past pieces like heliocentricity that incorporate a similar chord pattern and textural feel. The 7th and second to last piece has is perhaps my favorite and is built out of a nice little harmonic plucked figure.
