Episode 24 Carefree Summertime
This stream comes from the Twitch stream on 6/29/23, after having to skip the normal Tuesday stream due to neighborhood industrial noise. Things get off to a slow start, as the loop slowly builds, and then I experiment with a lo-fi effect as a transitional device. This piece has a nice sleepy feel to it, kind of like a hot summer night. The second piece has a nice inquisitive feeling to it, like being on the verge of revealing some kind of mystery. I really like the arco lick that develops in the second half of the song, which feels like we’re diving further into the depths of some sort of mysterious discovery. If I were to change one thing I’d take away the more resolved sounding chords in the middle and end, but I don’t mind them too much. The third piece continues with the mysterious sound in a nice way I think, there’s a darkness to this sound, but with the feeling of searching for the light. For the next piece things lighten up a bit - I really like the feeling of the bass line here. Simple chord progressions like this one can often yield more interesting results than may initially seem possible. Some nice moments in a more ambient piece, that becomes more driving and congealed by the end.
